Over the past four decades or so the Gallup Organization, in its national polls of American public opinion has regulary asked a question to the effect, "Have you attended a religious service at least once in the past seven days?" For the entire period of time that question has been asked, about 40% of the adults polled answer "yes" and 60% answer "no." The results of that question in Europe are much more dramatic with a much larger percentage answering "no." That means that during any given week, a sizable majority of adults do not have the advantage of worshipping. Some percentage of those answering "no" are people who cannot attend religious services due to physical or other disabilities, to travel, or to institutional demands, as well as to a lack of interest. The Internet offers us an opportunity to reach out to people who are, in some sense, separated from formal religious practices. Thus we can help fulfill the admonition of Jesus to go into the world with the Good News of God's love for all humankind. For more on this topic click the Why the Web? tab, above.
